The activities of the Regional Centre are planned and carried out with the following specific objectives:

To strengthen the structural and operational framework of the NAEB in implementing various Afforestation and Eco-Development Programme.
¨
To search for alternative technologies for Sustainable Development of Wastelands and Restoration of Eco-systems.
¨
To reclaim & restore the productivity of degraded lands by application of cost-effective and indigenous technology and/or with suitable mix with exotic technology as may be profitable applied.
¨
Capacity building through training, workshops and awareness programmes for the representatives of Voluntary Organizations, NGOs and Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI) in addition to the forest officials of the State Forest Departments and other related departments on emerging technologies and management policies in the area of Eco-development and Afforestation.
